This song is GOLDEN.
I always end up trying to sing all the bits of the harmony at once.
My favourite bit is the “Ooooooh” before the “the more I shamalalama stranger it feels yeah (yeah)”
My second favourite bit is the huge “BAYBEH” before the chorus kicks in.
It’s just a song you can really luxuriate in. I can’t even imagine what it’d be like to be a decent singer giving this a go.
Speaking of sloppy lyric remembering, until this very moment I thought it was “kiss from a rose on the grave”. Turns out it’s “on the grey”. What!
Also: Idina Menzel did a glorious cover of this in concert a few years ago. I’m not just saying it’s glorious because I’m impervious to any faults she may have, it really is seriously pretty. Her “ooooooh” is out of this world.
